CFDA Fashion Awards 2026: What to Watch on November 2
The 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards will take place Monday, November 2, at New York’s American Museum of Natural History, bringing together established American houses, independent designers and international honorees.
Keke Palmer will host the ceremony. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has also confirmed the nominees, category presenters and a slate of career and cultural honors. The results themselves remain unannounced, so this preview separates the confirmed program from the questions the evening may answer.
The four competitive categories
American Womenswear Designer of the Year places Catherine Holstein for Khaite, Michael Kors, Rachel Scott for Diotima, Tory Burch and Wes Gordon for Carolina Herrera in contention. Lupita Nyong’o is scheduled to present the award.
The American Menswear Designer of the Year nominees are Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne for Public School New York, Ralph Lauren, Thom Browne, Todd Snyder and Willy Chavarria. Matt Damon will present the category.
American Accessory Designer of the Year includes Ana Khouri, Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen for The Row, Raul Lopez for Luar, Sophie Buhai and Stuart Vevers for Coach. Naomi Osaka will present.
The emerging-designer nominees are Colleen Allen, Emily Dawn Long, Julia Ferentinos for Juju Vera, Julian Louie for Aubero and Zane Li for Lii. Cole Escola will present that award.
The confirmed honorees
The CFDA has already announced several non-competitive honors. Anthony Vaccarello will receive International Designer of the Year for his decade at Saint Laurent. Tory Burch will receive the Positive Change Award for the work of the Tory Burch Foundation.
Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Eva Chen will receive the Media Award, Linda Fargo the Founder’s Award, and Susan Cianciolo the Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute.
Paris Runway Official analysis: the signals behind the guest list
The following is analysis, not an announcement from the CFDA.
The nominations show an American industry balancing scale with independence. Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and Coach represent global reach, while Diotima, Luar, Juju Vera, Aubero and Lii demonstrate how the awards can turn industry attention toward newer businesses.
For PR teams, the ceremony is more than a red-carpet moment. It concentrates designers, editors, retailers, talent and cultural partners in one room. The strongest coverage will connect arrivals and awards to a larger story: American fashion’s evolving commercial base, its emerging talent pipeline and the growing overlap between fashion, entertainment and technology.
The presenters also widen the audience beyond industry insiders. That can give a winning designer greater mainstream visibility, but the longer-term benefit depends on how quickly the brand converts the moment into clear product storytelling, retail availability and follow-up press.
What is not yet confirmed
The CFDA has not announced the winners in the four competitive designer categories. Any forecast should be treated as opinion until the organization releases the official results. The public announcements reviewed for this article also do not provide a complete running order for the ceremony.
