Unbreakable by House of E. Keyes: A Triumph of Strength and Style at Austin Fashion Week

On May 9th, the runway at Austin Fashion Week was graced with the powerful presence of House of E. Keyes, a rising label led by visionary designer E. Keyes. Featured during the Black Designers Showcase, the collection, titled Unbreakable, offered more than just fashion... it delivered a message of resilience, elegance, and empowerment.

Inspired by Roman columns, symbols of unwavering strength and timeless beauty, Unbreakable explores the idea that while life may chip at us, it never breaks us. “The cuts and cracks in my designs represent struggles,” E. Keyes explains. “But like a column, we still stand tall. Despite everything life has thrown my way, my spirit remains unshakable.”

The garments in this collection embody this philosophy. Each piece expertly balances bold architectural structure with soft, feminine flourishes. Ruffles mimic the ornamental chiseling of ancient stonework, while layered fabrics reflect the depth and complexity of the human experience. “Every pleat, fold, and seam is purposeful,” the designer shares, “echoing life’s battles while always returning to form.”

With a strong personal touch woven into each stitch, Unbreakable also marked a milestone collaboration... E. Keyes’ first look featured a top from a new partnership with Shein. It was a bold entrance into the fashion retail landscape, hinting at what's to come.

Originally from the Southeast (Mississippi), E. Keyes moved to Texas after college and discovered the vibrant creative community of Austin. But it’s the chic streets of Paris that often fuel her design vision. “I find inspiration from Paris street fashion, fashion vloggers, and Pinterest,” she says. “I’m constantly watching the global scene evolve.”

Her aesthetic thrives on bold prints, monochromatic looks, and dynamic textures. Puff sleeves, standout details, and the transformative power of color play heavily into her work... an homage to both past and future trends.

The audience response at Austin Fashion Week confirmed what E. Keyes already knew... her designs resonate. “My favorite thing about presenting is watching the crowd and models interact with my vision. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that what I create inspires thought and emotion.”

Looking ahead, House of E. Keyes aims to scale its brand visibility through future fashion weeks, red carpet placements, and fashion publication features. The designer is currently preparing a retail-ready collection while continuing to offer custom pieces through curated brand collaborations. A graduate of SCAD Atlanta with a BFA in Fashion Design, and minors in Graphic Design and Fashion Marketing, E. Keyes credits her early years of ballet classes, runway show obsessions, and her first sewing lessons as the roots of her career. “My mom found my first sewing teacher. My family believed in me before anyone else did,” she recalls. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

As the Unbreakable collection made its debut, it wasn’t just fabric and form on display... it was a designer’s soul. With the support of her family, her community, and her growing team, E. Keyes is not only building a brand, she’s carving a legacy.
