CHANGING THE NARRATIVE: DESIGNER TASMIM ZOBAEAR
In the luminous world of couture, where heritage and innovation intertwine, a new name is commanding attention with unapologetic confidence: Tasmim Zobaear, the designer behind TZ STUDIO, whose sculptural, seductive designs are rapidly redefining South Asian luxury on the global stage. This year, Zobaear celebrates the opening of his Paris flagship at 28 Avenue Jean Jaurès, Palaiseau marking not just a geographic expansion, but a new chapter in his creative odyssey.
From Chattogram to the Catwalks of Paris: The Ascension of Tasmim Zobaear
Tasmim Zobaear’s story begins in Chattogram, Bangladesh, where a deep-rooted fascination with design led him to enroll in fashion school in Darjeeling at the tender age of 15. It was a bold move that marked the quiet beginning of a journey that would soon traverse continents and couture capitals.
By 2018, Zobaear had opened his first boutique in Dubai introducing the region to his distinct blend of architectural silhouettes and unapologetic femininity. Just a year later, he made his runway debut at Dubai International Fashion Week, setting the stage for something far bigger.
The real breakthrough came in 2022, when Paris Fashion Week welcomed Zobaear to its elite ranks. Then in 2023, at The Westin Paris Vendôme, he unveiled a full-scale couture collection—sealing his place among the next generation of designers redefining luxury on a global scale.
Each design is a visual declaration of strength, seduction, and accomplishment as he says.
His earliest creation? A one-shoulder satin bridal gown, intricately beaded with crystals—evidence even then of a designer enthralled by craftsmanship and dramatic elegance. "That gown wasn’t just a dress," he reflects. "It was a statement of identity, of beginning something bold."
What defines TZ STUDIO today is more than silhouette or technique... it’s philosophy. “Seduction. Powerful. Accomplished,” Zobaear says, summing up the essence of his brand. Whether it’s the drape of cotton or the glint of crystal, each material is carefully chosen to speak to a woman who commands attention on her own terms.
From the first sketch to final fittings, Zobaear’s design process is rooted in discipline. “Creativity thrives within boundaries,” he explains. “The most crucial step is defining the problem, the challenge. Once that’s clear, everything flows.”
For Zobaear, it’s not enough to succeed as a designer. He wants to change the fashion narrative around Bangladesh, a country too often limited to the lens of mass garment production.
Though often associated with grandeur, the gowns are made for galas, premieres, and press-worthy entrances. TZ STUDIO is, at its heart, about global inclusion. For Zobaear, it’s not enough to succeed as a designer. He wants to change the fashion narrative around Bangladesh, a country too often limited to the lens of mass garment production. “I’m not interested in being niche,” he says. “I want to be seen on runways, on red carpets, and in the global conversation.” Which we found to be extremely rare in a designer coming from Bangladesh... as Zobaear is very vocal about pursuing his dreams. He doesn't hide behind a curtain wishing for these things to happen, but he pursues them.
As for the future? Zobaear envisions a growing empire balanced between professional ambition and personal fulfillment. “I’ll be taking on more responsibility, expanding what we’ve built. But I also want to build a family,” he says. “Life, like design, is about harmony.”
With Paris now added to his map, and an ever-growing list of showings across the fashion capitals, Tasmim Zobaear is no longer just a rising name... he’s a force redefining what modern couture can look like, and where it can come from.
TASMIN ZOBAEAR DRESSES URVASHI IN CANNES
Urvashi Rautela, an Indian actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder, has been showing her glamorous style on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet since 2022. Urvashi has 71.8 million followers across her Instagram platform.
Urvashi returned to Cannes in signature style... this time making history as the first Indian to grace the Carlton Gala adorned in a Bengali designer. That designer? Tasmim Zobaear.
Leonardo DiCaprio called Urvashi "The Queen of Cannes" this year.
She arrived in full force, wrapped in a custom creation by Tasmim Zobaear.
THE DESIGNER:
Zobaear is a designer whose ascent in South Asian couture has been anything but quiet. With 83,000 followers on his Instagram he has already made his showcases in Dubai, Paris and Milan.
The gown, drawn from Zobaear’s Fall 2024 couture collection, was a masterclass in his dramatic vision: a sculpted sweetheart neckline, intricate silver-and-white crystal embroidery, and nude-toned 3D florals that blurred the line between garment and art.
Zobaear isn’t aiming to be a niche name he says... he’s demanding visibility. On runways. On red carpets. And in the global fashion conversation that too often overlooks Bangladesh’s creative force in favor of its manufacturing output. Yet, with showstopper pieces such as these and dressing the biggest names at Cannes... he may just become the designer who doesn't just create, but showcases what boldness and identity can look like when pursuing your dreams.
