"Resurrected Romance”: Daughter of Venus Vintage Debuts at Austin Fashion Week

On Saturday, May 10th, during the 1 PM Sustain Show at Austin Fashion Week—presented in partnership with Goodwill Central Texas—a new voice in sustainable fashion quietly made a bold statement. Catherine Wilson, the visionary behind Daughter of Venus Vintage, unveiled her debut collection Resurrected Romance to an audience ready to be transformed.

The collection—a tactile poem stitched from forgotten lace, corsetry, and napkins salvaged from Goodwill warehouses—was more than just clothing. It was a reclamation. “This opportunity found me,” Wilson shares. “Goodwill Central Texas invited me to be part of their collaboration with Austin Fashion Week, showcasing designs crafted from landfill-bound items. It felt deeply aligned with my values and the heart of my brand.”

And the heart of Daughter of Venus Vintage pulses with intention. Each look in Resurrected Romance wove delicate vintage materials into silhouettes that were ethereal yet grounded. “It’s about beauty born from what was almost forgotten,” says Wilson. Her muse? The grace of vintage lingerie, the intimacy of worn fabrics, and a lifelong dialogue with divine femininity.

Though this was her first time presenting at Austin Fashion Week, the runway felt like home. “I felt proud, nervous, grateful—and above all, validated,” Wilson reflects. “It reminded me that I’m doing the work I’m meant to be doing.”

Based in San Antonio, Wilson finds continuous inspiration in the creative current flowing between her city and neighboring Austin. “There’s a strong presence of vintage culture here, which has fueled my passion for sustainable design,” she says.

Every piece in the collection is one-of-a-kind or produced in ultra-limited runs—an intentional choice reflective of Wilson's slow fashion philosophy. “I work slowly and intentionally—this is fashion designed to last, not fast,” she explains.

What drives her? A dream to make sustainability sensuous. “My goal is to elevate sustainable fashion and show that it can be expressive, powerful, and romantic. Long term, I want Daughter of Venus Vintage to become both a fashion house and a movement—one that redefines beauty and honors waste as sacred.”

And the community behind her is vast. Catherine Wilson credits her models, her friends, her mother’s vintage wardrobe, and especially Goodwill Central Texas and Austin Fashion Week for igniting this new chapter. “To anyone who has helped me—whether carrying a load, opening a door, or offering a kind word—I see you. I remember you. None of this would be possible without you.”
