Prada Holds Growth as Miu Miu Sales Turn Negative

Prada Group entered the final quarter of 2026 with growth intact—but its newest trading update also showed a more uneven luxury market than the headline suggests.

The group reported 1% organic sales growth for the third quarter, excluding Versace, while Miu Miu retail sales fell 3%. Revenue including Versace reached €1.49 billion for the period, broadly matching analyst expectations reported by Reuters. The result matters because Prada and Miu Miu entered 2026 with unusually strong momentum, while the wider luxury sector continued to contend with cautious consumers and inconsistent regional demand.

What the company has confirmed

Prada Group’s October 22 update points to a business that is still expanding, but no longer moving at the same pace in every division or market. The Americas grew during the quarter, although more slowly. Asia Pacific was broadly flat as weaker traffic in mainland China was offset by other markets, while Europe remained soft.

The most closely watched shift was at Miu Miu. The label’s retail sales declined 3% in the third quarter, a marked change after years of rapid expansion. A single quarter does not establish a lasting reversal, but it does reset expectations: growth comparisons are now tougher, and desirability must increasingly translate into disciplined product, distribution and client retention.

Prada Group also said the integration of Versace remains on track. The company has indicated that Pieter Mulier’s first collection for Versace is expected next year. Until that collection appears and reaches stores, it is too early to judge the creative or commercial effect of the acquisition.

Why the Milan runway still matters

The trading update arrives only weeks after Milan Fashion Week, when runway attention was concentrated on the next cycle of product and image-making. For Prada, the commercial test is not whether a collection produces a strong show-day conversation. It is whether that conversation creates sustained demand across ready-to-wear, leather goods, footwear and repeat client appointments.

That distinction is especially important after the Spring 2027 collection made the skirt a tightly focused runway proposition. Paris Runway Official’s earlier analysis of Prada’s skirt-led Spring 2027 strategy examined the clarity of that creative message. The new sales figures provide a separate measure: the business context in which the collection will eventually arrive.

Paris Runway Official analysis

The following is informed analysis, not company guidance.

Prada’s result suggests three communications priorities for the coming months.

First, the group has to tell two different brand stories at once. Prada can emphasize consistency and intellectual product authority. Miu Miu, after an exceptional growth phase, needs to protect cultural heat without making short-term sales acceleration the only measure of success.

Second, Versace’s transition should be communicated with patience. Announcements about integration, leadership and creative preparation are meaningful, but they are not substitutes for seeing the collection, understanding its merchandising plan and observing its retail reception.

Third, regional nuance matters. “Luxury slowdown” is too blunt a description when performance varies across the Americas, mainland China, the rest of Asia Pacific and Europe. Editorial, investor and wholesale communications should specify which geography and channel a claim refers to.

What to watch next

  • Miu Miu’s next two quarters: One negative quarter may reflect tougher comparisons or timing; repeated declines would require a different interpretation.
  • Versace milestones: Leadership, collection timing, distribution decisions and the eventual retail rollout will be more informative than broad integration language alone.
  • Regional demand: Mainland China traffic and European softness remain important tests for the sector.
  • Runway-to-retail conversion: The Spring 2027 collections will show whether strong creative identities can produce durable full-price demand.

The clearest conclusion is measured rather than dramatic: Prada Group is still growing, but the next phase will depend less on momentum alone and more on execution across brands, regions and product cycles.
