Paris Runway Official spends the day with MaXhosa Africa as it Honors Heritage and Legacy at Paris Fashion Week Runway Show
At Paris Fashion Week, MaXhosa Africa presented a collection that transcended fashion and became a moment of cultural reverence. On Saturday, October 4, 2025, the South African fashion house unveiled its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, “Izipho Zabadala (Gifts for the Ancestors),” a deeply symbolic presentation that paid tribute to the brand’s 15-year legacy and rich Xhosa heritage.

This year, Paris Runway Official was there to capture the moment with its media team Sajin Stephen there on the ground in Paris, France. From backstage to the Runway, the show was everything the press and editors anticipated for the brand that had everyone talking.
Founded by visionary designer Laduma Ngxokolo, MaXhosa Africa has long been celebrated for weaving cultural storytelling into contemporary design blending traditional Xhosa patterns and symbolism with modern silhouettes and luxurious craftsmanship. This season, the brand elevated its narrative even further, transforming the runway into a space of remembrance, pride, and spiritual connection.

Before the first model stepped onto the catwalk, the audience was invited into a moment of silence to honor the late South African Ambassador to France, Nathi Mthethwa, whose contributions to cultural diplomacy helped bridge art and heritage between the two nations. It was a gesture that underscored the show’s essence... fashion as both memory and message.
The 30-look collection was a vivid display of MaXhosa’s distinctive design language: bold geometric motifs, richly textured knits, and a palette rooted in earth and ancestry, punctuated by modern metallic accents that suggested the meeting of tradition and innovation. Each look carried the spirit of craftsmanship and reverence, embodying the concept of “gifts for the ancestors”... creations that both honor the past and look toward the future.

As one of the highlights of the official Paris Fashion Week calendar, the presentation reaffirmed MaXhosa Africa’s position as a global ambassador of African luxury and cultural identity. Fifteen years after its founding, the brand continues to redefine what it means to tell stories through fashion where garments become living testaments to history, heritage, and heart.
