For Lucie Gumanova, that leap came at just 19 years old when she left her hometown in the Czech Republic with one suitcase and no clear roadmap... only the belief that there was a much bigger world waiting to be explored.
Today, after seven years in England, Lucie has transformed that bold decision into an international modeling career, walking the runway at London Fashion Week while balancing a successful career in finance. Her journey is a testament to reinvention, resilience, and the idea that growth often begins where comfort ends.
Growing up in the small town of Stribro, Lucie always felt drawn toward creativity. While many around her envisioned a life built close to home, she dreamed of something different. Fashion became her earliest form of self-expression.
"I've always been curious and creative," she says. "I loved experimenting with clothes, altering garments on my sewing machine, and treating every outfit like a creative project."
That passion occasionally landed her in trouble at school, where her unique style often pushed the limits of the dress code. Looking back, those moments became early signs of the creative career she would eventually pursue.
Moving to England became the turning point.
"It was daunting," Lucie recalls. "But staying felt far scarier than leaving."
Since relocating, she has built a life that reflects every side of her ambition. By day, she works in private markets finance, while simultaneously developing a growing runway and editorial portfolio that has already earned recognition within the fashion industry.
Lucie has walked for Art Hearts Fashion and The Musas during London Fashion Week, showcasing collections by designers including Saanj by Saloni, BADPINK, and Haus of Harleen. Her runway work has also been featured in numerous fashion publications covering London's emerging designer scene.
Although she has already achieved important milestones, Lucie views them as only the beginning.
"My goal is to continue building an international runway and editorial career," she says. "I love helping designers bring their creative vision to life while building meaningful relationships throughout the industry."
Travel remains one of her greatest motivations. Based between Newcastle and London, she is eager to work internationally, with Paris, Milan, New York, and other global fashion capitals firmly on her horizon.
Away from the runway, Lucie believes purpose is not something people simply discover but it is something they actively build.
"Purpose comes from creating a life that feels meaningful and aligned with who you are," she explains. "It's about making choices that continually move you toward the life you want."
That philosophy has shaped both her personal and professional journey. Every year, she challenges herself to step beyond what once seemed intimidating, guided by one simple reminder:
"Nothing changes if nothing changes."
It is a mindset that has carried her from a quiet Czech town to one of the world's most celebrated fashion weeks, proving that the biggest transformations often begin with a single courageous decision.
