Jonathan Anderson Appointed as Dior's Eighth Couturier - Overseeing all facets, first since Christian Dior
In a landmark move for the fashion industry, Dior has officially appointed Jonathan Anderson as its eighth couturier, granting him full creative control over the brand's women's, men's, and haute couture collections. This appointment marks the first time since Christian Dior himself that a single designer oversees all facets of the house's design, signaling a unified vision for the storied French maison.
Anderson, a 40-year-old Northern Irish designer, is renowned for his avant-garde approach and transformative work at Loewe, where he served as creative director for over a decade. His tenure at Loewe was marked by innovative designs that revitalized the brand's image and appeal. In addition to his role at Loewe, Anderson founded his eponymous label, JW Anderson, which has been celebrated for its boundary-pushing designs and collaborations.
The transition at Dior comes after the departures of Maria Grazia Chiuri, who led the women's and haute couture lines for nearly a decade, and Kim Jones, who directed the men's collections. Anderson's appointment is seen as a strategic move by Dior's parent company, LVMH, to infuse fresh creativity and cohesion across all of Dior's offerings.
Anderson's debut for Dior Men is scheduled for June 27 during Paris Fashion Week, with his first women's ready-to-wear collection set to be unveiled in October. His inaugural haute couture collection is anticipated in January 2026. As he steps into this historic role, the fashion world eagerly awaits how Anderson will blend his distinctive aesthetic with Dior's rich heritage.
