Dior sales increase 3% after Paris Fashion Week Show bringing back 'old school' Paris designs
Dear reader,
-
Christian Dior, a cornerstone of Parisian couture and a pioneer of the New Look, presented its Autumn-Winter 2025/2026 Ready-to-Wear collection on March 4, 2025, during Paris Fashion Week. This iconic event, running from March 3 to 11, showcases the trends and creativity of major fashion houses.

While there's no official word on Maria Grazia Chiuri's departure from Dior, her Fall 2025 show in Paris today had the air of a grand farewell. With acclaimed theater director Robert Wilson at the helm, the show featured dramatic elements like falling rocks, icebergs, and a soaring bird, culminating in a tableau vivant confetti shower.
-
However, this may be just one stop on a farewell tour. Chiuri has two major shows still to come: Pre-Fall 2025 in Kyoto this April and Resort 2026 in her hometown of Rome next May.

Maria Grazia Chiuri's tenure as Dior's creative director has been remarkable, approaching the length of Christian Dior's own time at the maison. She came onto the label as Creative Director in 2016. In her nine years, Chiuri has transformed Dior into a platform that amplifies female voices, notably beginning with her iconic "We Should All Be Feminists" slogan tee.

Her recent collection, inspired by Virginia Woolf's "Orlando," is a powerful testament to this vision. The novel explores "frock consciousness," the interconnectedness of appearance and self-perception, through a time-traveling poet who uses clothing for self-actualization. Chiuri's collection beautifully marries historical elements like crinolines and ruffs with her signature full-coverage underpinnings and sheer tulle dresses, creating a collection that is both powerful and feminine.

One thing Maria did was bring back the original Christian Dior Tee Shirt that was such an iconic look for the brand and designer label.

The exhibition also showcases the cantilevered hiplines that Chiuri recently featured in her spring 2025 and spring 2024 couture collections. These hiplines draw inspiration from Monsieur Dior's sharply structured Cigale dress from 1952 and are a testament to the house's rich heritage. The collection also includes other notable references, such as frilly white blouses reminiscent of Gianfranco Ferré's early '90s designs and iconic elements from the John Galliano era, including J'Adore Dior t-shirts, frock coats, and ermine-style trims. These trims are similar to those found on a fall 2004 couture gown currently exhibited at the Louvre. Together, these pieces highlight that Dior, regardless of who leads it, provides an endless platform for exploring and redefining gender expression.
