House of Christina

Class is in session: An interview with the CEO of Class of Christina – a new contemporary fashion brand designed for the Office Siren.

By Gena Aspinall-Martin

Class of Christina is designed with intention. Clean-cut, sharp silhouettes and cinched waists. Her designs reflect the styling of sixties Hollywood. Fashion icons of the 1960s and reminiscent of vintage women’s office wear.

Class of Christina’s founder and CEO, Amelia, incorporates her admiration for 1960’s silhouettes and tailoring into her garments. Each design is stitched with admiration for the bombshells and working women who came before us. Those who fought to work office roles and paved the way for the female workforce we see today. Structured and captivating, her collection exudes confidence, youth and professionalism.

Her designs are elevated and chic; a British lifestyle brand designed for the young and ambitious. Authentically curated for modern women who are always on the move and need outfits that reflect their on-the-go lifestyle. Amelia saw a gap in the market for young fashion consumers. Many fast-fashion brands today design with commerciality in mind and mirror each other's product offerings. Amelia believes that garments should be connected to a certain style and mindset. Therefore, Class of Christina designs invite you into a fashion subculture that is elevated and instantly recognisable.

“When someone wears a piece, I want people to think - that’s so Christina. Something feminine, chic and put together - that has its own identity”.

Class of Christina has a timeless French aesthetic, inspired by the Parisian lifestyle. For women whose lives extend far beyond the typical 9-5, and need versatile outfits that carry them from dawn to dusk. The Class of Christina customer is your typical fashion-obsessed It girl in her 20s. Someone who consumes Vogue magazines, is fascinated by style icons of the sixties like Audrey Hepburn, Bridgette Bardot, Jane Birkin, and loves to dress up for any and every occasion.

Their typical consumer is someone who invests in timeless pieces and wishes to build a curated wardrobe, rather than following fleeting fads. A sustainability-conscious consumer who is effortlessly chic. Christina follows a slow fashion product pipeline. All garments are made to order and can be custom-made to ensure the perfect fit and quality. Her product pipeline follows a slow-fashion business model that never compromises on style.

The Class of Christina incorporates feminine structure and tailoring to flatter the female form.  She takes influence from 1960’s media and fashion. As a designer, she rejects the throwaway culture of the fast-fashion industry and designs pieces in-house that are timeless, elevated, and long-lasting. Amelia describes her brand’s image as “classy and controlled” pieces you can build into a capsule wardrobe and appreciate for many years to come.

“ I design pieces you keep because you feel too good in them to throw away. I’ve always loved the idea of saving your best clothes for your future daughter, and I design with that in mind. I want vintage Class of Christina to exist in the future”.

With this, comes quality. Crafted with luxury and longevity in mind. At only 22, the brand's designs reflect Amelia’s lifestyle. As a young and driven designer, Amelia reflects a youthful ideology that you are free to curate your own personal style, appreciate investment pieces and enjoy life in the process, to feel special and confident in yourself and within your intentions.

“There’s a sense of rarity behind them. They’re designed to feel timeless, feminine and a bit special, whether it’s a tailored suit, a mini dress, or something for a holiday or occasion. The idea is that each piece feels like something you keep and remember wearing”.

Amelia shot her Autumn/Winter collection in Paris, where her inspiration and journey began. Paris is at the heart of the brand's image.  Her “Cherie” suit was inspired by Christian Dior’s iconic T-Bar suit. She visited the Dior Museum during a trip to the city and was mesmerised by the late Christian’s silhouettes and his brand’s history. For Amelia, shooting in Paris, a city long regarded as the epitome of fashion trends, felt like a full-circle moment.

“Paris has always been a big part of the Class of Christina aesthetic. I love France, the architecture, the mood, and the way women dress there. Shooting the Cheri suit in Paris felt like bringing the piece back home”.

House of Christina is a lifestyle brand for the fashion enthusiast. Chic, structured and aspirational. Amelia wants to create a fashion subculture, a way in which you’re a part of the “class”. For Amelia, fashion is a facet of her identity and personal branding. This ethos is reflected in her brand. A slow fashion brand that focuses on the idea that their customers are not only buying a garment but also buying into an innate sense of belonging. Her designs take influence from fashion icons of the past, a juxtaposition of 20th-century influence, refined across cities. Caroline Basette meets Bridgette Bardot.

Amelia models many of her designs and truly embodies her brand's aesthetic. Her latest summer collection is designed for the sixties enthusiast and looks like it could have been worn by a Bond girl. Bright stripes, mono swimwear, sharp silhouettes, and micro-mini dresses. House of Christina is a brand for women who want it all and are not afraid to showcase their personal style.
