Austin Fashion Week Spotlight: Dale Ellison makes her debut on the Runway as a jewelry designer

Upcycled Elegance: Dale Ellison’s Debut at Austin Fashion Week with A Bead In Time Jewelry

This May, Austin Fashion Week welcomes a fresh perspective to its Runway—a debut collection from Dale Ellison, the creative force behind A Bead In Time Jewelry. Stepping into the spotlight for the first time, Ellison has presented her sustainably crafted collection at the Sustain Show on May 10th at 1:00 PM, bringing a heartfelt mix of nostalgia, innovation, and purpose to the catwalk.

Fashion PR Firm was there with Julie Trinh behind the camera for the special event and to capture this moment for Dale Ellison, owner of A Bead in Time Jewelry.

Though this marks her runway debut, Ellison is no stranger to Austin Fashion Week. “I’ve been attending for many years,” she shares. “I saw an application for the Sustain show and knew it was the right moment.”

The collection—a whimsical yet thoughtful fusion of reclaimed materials—breathes new life into forgotten objects. “I sourced everything from donated items at Goodwill,” Ellison explains. “Board game pieces, jigsaw puzzles, even fabric from used clothing—all transformed into wearable stories.”

Each piece is handmade, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to one-of-a-kind artistry. “Everything is made by me,” she adds, offering a stark contrast to mass-produced accessories and signaling a return to craftsmanship. The result is a collection that’s not only visually striking but emotionally rich, evoking memories and meaning through every charm and clasp.

The designer’s hometown of Austin, Texas plays muse. “Austin inspires me constantly—it’s eclectic, colorful, and full of soul,” says Ellison. That same spirit can be felt in every design, where fun meets function and creativity meets consciousness.

Beyond the beauty, there’s a deeper purpose. “This show inspired me to launch an upcycled section in my Etsy shop,” she says. “Twenty percent of sales from that collection will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.” It’s a powerful reminder that fashion can both dazzle and give back.

Ellison, a third-generation physician, balances her medical career with her passion for design. “Fashion is my second job,” she reveals. “But this show is opening a whole new door. I hope it raises visibility for my brand and inspires others to look at fashion differently.”

As for what’s next? “I would love to present again. This has been such a fun and fulfilling experience.”

And her biggest thank-you? “My husband. He’s been so patient and supportive during this wild ride.”

With her mix of creative repurposing, heartfelt intention, and runway-ready flair, Dale Ellison is proving that A Bead In Time Jewelry is more than a brand—it’s a movement.
