Ashleigh Russell is redefining what it means to be a modern role model—gracefully balancing her crown, her cause, and her career with purpose and power. In July 2023, she made history by being crowned the first-ever Ms Pageant Girl 2023/24, a title that has become far more than just a sash and a tiara. For Ashleigh, it became a microphone for change.
Deaf since birth, Ashleigh’s mission is deeply personal: to raise awareness of deaf issues, champion accessibility, and challenge societal barriers. "Every day I strive to highlight deaf issues and make the world a better place for future generations of deaf people," she shares. Her advocacy is rooted in lived experience and powered by a bold determination to create a more inclusive world... one where people of all abilities are seen, heard, and valued.
Ashleigh's voice has resonated across local and national platforms alike. She has been featured in the Rotherham Advertiser, appeared twice on BBC Radio Sheffield, and made a powerful impression during her live interview on BBC Look North in September 2023.
While her advocacy takes center stage, Ashleigh also works full-time as a Police Researcher, bringing discipline, insight, and a commitment to justice into her professional life. And beyond the badge and the spotlight, she’s a family girl at heart crediting her biggest supporters as those closest to her.
“My family may not share my exact passion for fashion,” she jokes, “but they’ve supported me every step of the way.”
Ashleigh’s journey into purpose began when she stepped into the world of pageantry. Competing not only gave her confidence... it gave her clarity.
“Some people know instinctively what their purpose is. For others, it’s something they have to find. For me, it came through pageantry. I realized I now had a platform to make a real difference.”
In the influencer space, Ashleigh is a breath of fresh authenticity. She celebrates the accessibility that influencer culture offers:
“There’s a market for just about anything. Seeing influencers who look like you whether they’re petite, deaf, or over 30 helps make informed decisions and feel seen.”
Her mission is to show that there are no limits... only those we place on ourselves.
Her proudest moments span both personal and professional milestones: earning her Law degree as the first in her family to graduate from university, and claiming her first pageant title as a deaf woman, a powerful moment she capped off by delivering her handover speech entirely in British Sign Language... a first in the history of the competition.
Ashleigh Russell is not just a titleholder or an influencer but she’s a changemaker. And with her platform growing, her message is clear: no label defines you, and no dream is out of reach.
