Ada & Edith Elegant Runway Debut: Where Bold Minimalism Meets Global Soul

Ada & Edith Elegant Runway Debut: Where Bold Minimalism Meets Global Soul

By Paris Runway Official | Austin Fashion Week Coverage

On Friday, May 9th, Ada & Edith made a striking entrance at Austin Fashion Week as the closing act of the Black Designer Showcase. Their presence was both historic and heartfelt—a celebration of heritage, craftsmanship, and sisterhood. At the heart of it all is Ukonwa Ojo, who co-founded the brand with her sisters Adaeze and Uche in honor of their late mother, a designer whose legacy still stitches together their creative vision.

“We reached out to the Austin Fashion Week team, and once they learned more about our brand, they felt we were a perfect fit,” says Ojo. “Being selected—and then told we would close the show—was deeply meaningful.”

Ada & Edith isn’t just a brand. It’s a philosophy: style and comfort, interwoven with purpose. Rooted in bold minimalism, their pieces are designed to empower the modern, busy woman—someone who transitions from the boardroom to the art gallery, from caretaking to celebration, with effortless grace.

“We believe comfort and style should never be mutually exclusive,” Ojo explains. “Each piece is tailored for how women live today—complex, dynamic lives filled with movement and significance.”

Their commitment to slow fashion shines through every garment. Crafted from fabrics woven in Italy, the line is brought to life by skilled artisans whose attention to detail echoes the brand’s enduring philosophy: fashion made to last. These are heirloom-quality pieces made for everyday wear—timeless, refined, and unforgettable.

One of our favorite looks from the entire Austin Fashion Week was this dress. Simply, gorgeous.

ABOUT THE BRAND:

Though Houston-based, Ada & Edith’s identity is global. With Ojo having traveled to over 50 countries, her design lens is deeply influenced by cultural architecture, street style, and artisan techniques from around the world. “My work is shaped by immersion,” she says. “Each destination leaves its mark.”

The brand may have just debuted at Austin Fashion Week, but its presence was anything but novice. With a Forbes feature already under their belt and future Fashion Week plans on the horizon, Ada & Edith is quickly becoming a name to watch on the international stage.

But for Ojo, the runway is more than a platform—it's a personal pilgrimage. “Fashion is a privilege. Watching something that lived only in your imagination come to life? It’s powerful. It reminds you why you create in the first place.”

She credits her sisters and late mother as her deepest inspirations. “This is for her—for the woman who raised us and designed with such passion and love. Ada & Edith is our way of honoring her legacy and sharing it with the world.”

With elegance, intention, and family at its core, Ada & Edith doesn’t just dress women—it celebrates them.
